Salmah Orbayinah is an activist of Muhammadiyah, Aisyiyyah, and lecturer at the department of pharmacy, Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta. She is currently the chair of the Council of Human Resources (Majelis Pembinaan Kader) of Aisyiyyah.
She completed her undergraduate education and the Pharmacist Profession at the Faculty of Pharmacy, Gadjah Mada University. Then she continued her master degree at the UGM Faculty of Medicine. Currently she is finishing her dissertation at the Faculty of Pharmacy UGM.
She has several publications in the field of pharmacy. Among others is “Detection of pork in meatballs using probe TaqMan Real-time Polymerase Chain Reaction” (2020).
In 2018 she received a reward from Australian Government for Leadership for Senior Multi-faith Women. In addition in 2008, 2011,2015, 2020 she received a reward as a supervisor of students in PIMNAS (the National Student Scientific Competition) from the Indonesian MInistry of Higher Education.

Salmah Orbayinah lahir di Yogyakarta. Menyelesaikan pendidikan Sarjana (S1) ,Profesi Apoteker di Fakultas Farmasi, Universitas Gadjah Mada. Kemudian melanjutkan pendidikan Magister (S2) di FK UGM. Saat ini sedang menyelesaikan disertasinya (S3) di Fak Farmasi UGM. Aktif dalam berbagai organisasi dan kegiatan sosial.
Pengalaman organisasi di Aisyiyah dan Muhammadiyah diawali ketika masih SMP. Pernah sebagai ketua Pimpinan Ranting Naisyiyatul Aisyiyyah (PRNA) Kauman Yogyakarta, Ketua Pimpinan Cabang Naisyiyatul Aisiyyah (PCNA) Gondomanan, anggota Majelis Kader PWNA, PPNA , wakil sekretaris PPNA, sampai saat ini (2015-2020) diperpanjang sampai 2022 sebagai Ketua Majelis Pembinaan Kader (MPK) Pimpinan Pusat Aisyiyyah dan Wakil Ketua MPK Pimpinan Pusat Muhammadiyah.
Saat ini tercatat sebagai Dosen Farmasi dan sebagai Koordinator IPE FKIK UMY. Sebelumnya pernah juga sebagai Sekprodi (2010), Tim BPM Universitas (2012) dan Kaprodi (2015) Farmasi. Beberapa tulisan yang pernah dipublikasikan di jurnal terindex scopus antara lain “Interprofessional education from pilot to formal curriculum” (2015), “Application of real-time polymerase chain reaction using species specific primer targeting on mitochondrial cytochrome-b gene for analysis of pork in meatball products” (2019), “Detection of pork in meatballs using probe TaqMan Real-time Polymerase Chain Reaction” (2020).
Penghargaan yang pernah diperoleh antara lain dari Dirjen DIKTI sebagai Pembimbing Finalis PIMNAS (2008, 2011,2015, 2020) dan dari Australia Government pada program Australian Award (Leadership for Senior Multi-faith Women Leaders) tahun 2018.
